The Cure for Worry and Anxiety is Not at the Bottom of That Bottle!


We live in very anxious times, there is no doubt about that.  Open the newspaper or tune in to any news channel, and you'll read about something terrible going on – not just on the other side of the globe, but right in your own local area as well. 

Many people wonder just what is the cure for worry and anxiety, since they are so plagued with it, no matter what their circumstances.  After all, even if your life is somewhat stable and predictable right now, it's not difficult to see how easily it could change in the blink of an eye.

When searching for the cure for worry and anxiety, some people unfortunately turn to artificial means to calm their nerves or help them forget their troubles.  Artificial means might include drugs, gambling, dangerous sports, or of course alcohol. 

Alcohol especially is not the cure for worry and anxiety the way many people think it is.  Sure, getting a bit tipsy or "buzzed" or even out-and-out drunk can make you feel good for a few moments, maybe even a few hours. 

You may have your problems and concerns blocked out and may even feel a tremendous rush of euphoria.  But of course all this is very short-lived.  That buzz wears off sooner or later, you're going to sober up eventually, and then what?  The cure for worry and anxiety that you just drank the night before has left you, and instead has given you a whole new set of problems to deal with.

Persons who drink regularly are often plagued with issues that only add to their concerns.  They may spend a lot of money on alcohol, so much that they can't pay other bills or provide for their families. 

They may say or do stupid or dangerous things when they're drunk.  They may hurt someone else.  The cure for worry and anxiety that they thought was in that bottle has proven to be a false sense of security, and has made their situation much worse than before.

If you're someone overwhelmed with issues and concerns, rather than turn to artificial means, consider seeing a counselor.  Many areas offer free mental health and other types of counseling.  It may not seem as glamorous as trying to drink your troubles away, but counseling is effective and will not leave you with even worse problems than you started with.
