The Cure for Worry and Anxiety Often Lies Within

If you have a lot of anxiety, you are not alone. We live in very anxious times, and it seems you cannot pick up the newspaper or turn on the television without seeing and hearing about something new that's worrisome. But if you're suffering from undue stress and overwhelming emotions, take comfort in the fact that the cure for worry and anxiety often lies within yourself.
To understand what this means, think back over the course of your life. How many things were you anxious about that just never happened? Were you certain that you were going to get bad news from your doctor, or that you were going to lose your job, or something else, and it didn't happen?
The cure for worry and anxiety is just like the cure for anything else – prevent it from happening in the first place! If you think about how many things you're anxious about now that will probably never happen, you understand the first step toward the cure for worry and anxiety.
You might begin to argue with that by pointing out bad things that did happen – maybe you did get bad news from your doctor or you did lose your job, or something else. Remember though that bad things are a part of life, yours, mine, and everyone else's. You're not the only person in the world to suffer poor health or unemployment or whatever else your problems are.
A big part of the cure for worry and anxiety is to put your own problems in perspective. You survived these incidents, didn't you? The doctor might have given you bad news, but chances are there were treatment options he or she gave you as well. If you lost a job, you found something else soon enough, right?
Another part of the cure for worry and anxiety is to put things in perspective. Even if you're dealing with some terrible trauma or circumstance, this too will pass. Really, can you change the future by worrying? Will it fix anything by being anxious?
All of us can only plan for the future as best we can and then ride out the bad times while waiting for the good. If you understand how useless these emotions are, then you'll be well on your way to finding the cure for worry and anxiety in your own life.
